recent Henri Lloyd jacket
This is a newish Henri Lloyd jacket – Goretex, 3 years old and still waterproof (I use a tech-wash and a reproof twice a year). In heavy spray, or when going onto the foredeck to change a sail it is easy to move in, and the neck and cuffs stay water tight in all but the wettest conditions. The hood has the side windows and high collar. The side and chest pockets are accessible even with a tight life jacket. When worn with salopettes and boots and two or three base layers even the coldest overnight watch can be pleasant, as long as the tea and biscuit supply is good. It won’t last as long as my neoprene smock – but it is a real shame that Henri Lloyd has gone bust; they used to make some excellent kit.
