Sept-Oct RYA Day Skipper Theory – 10 evenings + 1 weekend (course full)
This course is run over 10 evenings (18:30-22:00) (Tuesday and Thursday evenings for 5 weeks) and then 1 weekend of revision and exams.
RYA Day Skipper Theory Course Content
A comprehensive introduction to navigation and safety, this course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
- Charts and publications
- Tides and how to use them
- Weather forecasting
- Position fixing
- Use of electronic navigation
- Emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts

All training materials, RYA almanac and exams are included.
You will need to bring a pen, 2B pencil, eraser, paper and a Portland plotter and dividers.
We can provide a Portland plotter and dividers for £23. If you would like to order a set please mention when booking your course.
