RORC Middle Sea Race

RORC Middle Sea Race

The RORC Middle Sea Race is a highly rated offshore classic, often mentioned in the same breath as the Rolex Fastnet Race, the Rolex Sydney – Hobart and Newport-Bermuda as a “must do” race.

The Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) co-founded the race in 1968. With the exception of a break between 1984 and 1995 the event has been run annually attracting 25 -30 yachts. In recent years the number of entries has risen sharply to 78 boats thanks to a new Organising Committee who managed to bring Rolex on board as title sponsor for the RORC Middle Sea Race.

The race is a true challenge to skippers and crews who have to be at their very best to cope with the often changeable and demanding conditions. Equally, the race is blessed with unsurpassed scenery with its course taking competitors close to a number of islands including Stromboli’s active volcano.

You will join the boat for on the water training and preparation including competing in the RORC Middle Sea Coastal Race, which is a great training for the Middle Sea Race.

Famous for incredible sunsets and the opportunity to race in shorts, the 608 nm RORC Middle Sea Race starts in the stunning harbour under the magnificent historic city of Valetta with the walls lined with cheering spectators!

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular races in the World, combining awe-inspiring scenery with warm waters and competitive offshore racing.
