Heavy Weather Sailing

Heavy Weather Training

If you are considering sailing offshore it is important that you know how to cope when the wind and seas increase.

These skills are best learnt in winds between F5 and F6, however as it impossible to predict when we will get strong winds in advance to run a course, so we advise that you look at mile builders or offshore racing to gain experience in all areas including how to cope when the wind increases.

Skills needed in heavy weather include
How to steer in waves
Hove too
Sailing downwind in stronger winds
