RYA YachtMaster Theory
The RYA YachtMaster Theory is an advanced course for more experienced skippers or those wishing to build on the RYA Day Skipper Theory course.
RYA YachtMaster Theory courses are run throughout the year from our base in London.

RYA YachtMaster Theory Course Content This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the YachtMaster Coastal and YachtMaster Offshore practical exams. The course concentrates on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.
- Charts and publications
- Tides and how to use them
- Weather predictions using a barometer and by observation
- Course shaping and plotting
- Use of electronic navigation
- Customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad.
We now have a set of RYA Theory Course tuition videos and Equinox Sailing Manual to accompany our theory courses.
Please download the RYA Chart Plotter before your course- you will receive an activation code in your first session. The chart plotter is compatible with PC and Mac and will form part of the navigation element of your course.

Duration 40 hours plus assessments and homework
Max instructor ratio 12:1
All training materials RYA almanac and exams are included.
You will need to bring a pen, 2B pencil, eraser, paper and a Portland plotter and dividers.
We can provide a Portland plotter and dividers for £23. If you would like to order a set please mention when booking your course.
