RYA Competent Crew Course Content

New to sailing, spent some time on a yacht and don’t know your bow line from your bowline? Then this could be the course for you.  The RYA Competent Crew course is an ideal introduction for those new to sailing or dinghy sailors who wish to progress into the RYA Cruising scheme.

Experience living on a yacht and visit a different port each night. Learn the fundamentals of handling a boat under sail and under engine. Learn to handle sails, tie knots, and become a useful member of crew.

We run the RYA Competent Crew course as a 7 day extended course,  mid week 5-day course or over a 2-day weekend and a 3-day weekend from our base in Hamble.  Enjoy sailing the sheltered waters of the Solent during your course.  Our Extended 7 day course allows additional time to complete your course and visit ports and harbours further afield than you might do during a 5 day course.
