Meet the team
Ruaraidh (pronounced Brewery without the B) grew up in London and has been sailing dinghies such as Fireballs as RS400’s in Falmouth and Kent since he was 5.
In his teens he worked at Wildwind Sailing Holidays in the Ionian, Vassiliki for 6 summers (around studying) before branding into sailing yachting and superyachts around the world.
Since the superyachts Ruaraidh has has a season working with the Abu Dhabi Volvo Ocean Race team in 2013 and then back to teaching – now only on yachts. For the last 4+ years he has been honing his racing and skippering of yachts, occasionally dabbling in with the London Corinthians SC on the Thames at Hammersmith.
Having had a fairly broad spectrum of experience around the yachting industry who will always create a a friendly, relaxed and safe learning environment onboard.
After working his way around the Solent, Ruaraidh setup his own RYA Sailing School – the London School of Sailing. Equinox assisted with some of the administration to set-up LSS. There was a meeting of minds and in December 2017 the RYA interests of the schools were merged to form ‘Equinox – the London School of Sailing’.
A runner turned sailor, Nick got into sailing due to his participation in the 3 Peaks Yacht Race. Nick learnt that racing made sailing interesting and the number of variables made it physically and intellectually challenging.
Nick competes in the mainly in offshore racing and particularly likes short handed racing. Watch out for their return to the Three Peaks Yacht Race later this year.
