We don’t pigeon-hole – we fit our tuition and development to your individual needs.
Once you have gained a qualification we offer development programmes for skippers and crew to keep skills current and upto date.
Meet the team
Simon has been sailing for most of his life and started racing in Mirror and Laser dinghy’s at both club and national level.
After managing bars and restaurants in his native Northern Ireland he moved to Cork to pursue his dream of working in the sailing industry. Once qualified as a RYA Yachtmaster, dinghy and powerboat instructor Simon worked as a Senior instructor in West Cork, before moving to Tenerife to teach in the sun.
Since returning to the UK in 2010 Simon been working as a freelance instructor and delivery skipper, before setting up Equinox Sailing in 2012.
Teaching in different sailing schools and in different parts of the world has allowed Simon to have an adaptable and varied teaching style that inspires confidence in his students, as well as allowing him to clock thousands of offshore miles.
When not teaching Simon competes in inshore racing such as Cowes Week, Hamble Winter Series and Warsash Spring series and RORC offshore races including two RORC Fastnet races, Round Britain and Ireland Race finishing 1st in IRC 1 in 2014 as well being a regular in the RORC and JOG cross channel races.
A runner turned sailor, Nick got into sailing due to his participation in the 3 Peaks Yacht Race. Nick learnt that racing made sailing interesting and the number of variables made it physically and intellectually challenging.
Nick competes in the Warsash Spring and Hamble Winter Series and RORC offshore races including the Fastnet.

Marie was new to sailing when Equinox Sailing was set up in 2012. Four years on and she has a Day Skipper qualification, but will be the first to admin she struggles to find time to get out on the water.
