Join us to put your new found skills into practice and complete the RYA Competent Crew or Day Skipper course over 7 days.
The 7-days will provide the opportunity to explore new sea areas and get some proper sailing experience. The course will start in Hamble, cross the Channel to the Islands and along the spectacular granite coastline of Brittany, before ending in St Malo.
Heavy weather options would explore west along the coast to Devon and possibly across the Channel during the week. The trip is also available to those who wish to cruise, and not complete the RYA course.
The cost includes meals while sailing and mooring fees. It does not include meals ashore or return travel from St Malo.

RYA Day Skipper Course Content
Put your theory into practice and learn to skipper a yacht in familiar waters by day. Learn to leave and return from your berth safely, anchoring, picking up a mooring buoy, recover a man over board, navigation, and safety on board a yacht. Hone your sailing skills, experience sailing at night and enjoy sailing to a different port each evening.
Join the boat on Monday morning, meet your instructor and crew, and after a safety briefing set off returning Friday afternoon.
Useful literatureThe RYA Day Skipper Practical Course Notes is a useful book both during the course and as an aide memoire after your course, and can be purchased for £10 – please let us know if you would like to order a copy when you are booking your course. We also have a section on sail handling that contains some worksheets you might find useful.
After your course
You will be able to skipper a small yacht by day in familiar waters. Upon successful completion of the RYA Day Skipper course you will have gained a recognised qualification which is accepted in a number of countries as confirmation of your competence to charter a boat.

Meals ashore and mooring fees, which are split between the students, are not included.
Included on courseRYA accredited instructor, accommodation on board, gas, diesel, breakfast and lunch each day, 1 evening meal, and RYA log book.
