A Weekend Course

This course is aimed at someone who has never sailed before and would like to spend a weekend learning the ropes.  The weekend is designed to give you a taste of yachting, and can reduce the length of the RYA Competent Crew course.

RYA Start Yachting Course Content
Experience living on a yacht and visit different ports each night. Learn the fundamentals of handling a boat under sail and under engine. Learn to handle sails, tie knots, and become a useful member of crew.

Join the boat on Friday evening meet your instructor and crew, start your course on Saturday morning, returning Sunday afternoon.

Useful literature
The RYA Competent Crew course notes, is a useful book both during the course and as an aid memoir after your course, and can be purchased for £10 please let us know when you are booking.  We also have a section on sail handling that contains some worksheets you might find useful.

After your course
You will have gained practical skills to help you become a useful crew member, gaining a recognised certificate.

Duration 2 days
Max instructor ratio 5:1
Cost £235
Meals ashore and mooring fees, which are split between the students, are not included.

Included on course
RYA accredited instructor, accommodation on board, gas, diesel, breakfast and lunch each day, 1 evening meal, an RYA Log book.

To enable you to fully enjoy the course, you will require wet weather gear; a sleeping bag and pillow will also be required. Refer to our comprehensive kit list
