The Solent is a busy and popular place to sail, with a mixture of yacht cruisers and yacht racers sailing throughout the year. While most yacht racers are taking the opportunity throughout the winter to work through their list of broken bits or improvements for the upcoming season
2014 is the 31st year that the Warsash Spring Series and Warsash Spring Championship will be the first major event taking place in the Solent. The Solent, with its complex tides, offers yacht racers a unique place to race and tests navigators and tacticians and so the Warsash Spring Series and Warsash Spring Championship are often used as a training or ‘shakedown’ event for many professional teams who go on to take part in the Commodores Cup, Admiral’s Cup or Cowes Week.
The Warsash Spring Series is held over 6 weekends with a break for Easter. Races are held on a Sunday and are usually finished by lunch time allowing the crew to catch up over a hot toddy in the bar afterwards. The fleet is split into 2 groups; the ‘Black’ group includes yachts and the ‘White’ group includes sports boats.

Equinox Sailing race in the popular and competitive Sigma 38 class, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. The Sigma class is the largest One-Design class racing on the South Coast, and have entered the Warsash Spring Championship in 2014.
