RYA Courses

RYA Courses are structured to enable sailors of any experience level  to get out on the water and gain a recognised sailing qualification, trained by an RYA qualified instructor.

RYA courses can be broken down into the following groups:-

One day RYA Courses
One day RYA courses are normally run from 0900 – 1730 during a weekend or split over two evenings.  We run our evening courses from our office in Central London which is a beneficial location for students who work in the City.

One day courses are complementary to the RYA practical and theory courses they cover aspects of sailing which will increase the knowledge and confidence of sailors at any experience level.

One day courses include
RYA VHF Radio Course
RYA First Aid

Please follow the links above for more information on these one day courses.

Theory RYA Courses
Theory courses are a great way to keep learning even when the nights draw in and the weather isn’t ideal for sailing. They provide a more in-depth understanding of areas covered in practical courses, such as navigation and safety, and the ‘rules of the road’.  There is a theory course for all levels from beginner to those wishing to complete their RYA Yachtmaster. For more experienced sailors, the completion of the Day Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory course are recommended before attendance on the equivalent practical course.

Theory RYA courses include
RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship
RYA Day Skipper Theory
RYA Yachtmaster Theory

Please follow the links above for more information on these theory courses.

Online RYA Course
A number of the RYA theory courses are available as online courses. Online courses offer students the flexibility of choosing where and when they work.  All online courses have an instructor on hand by phone and email should you have any problems.

Practical RYA Courses
The best way to learn to sail is to get out on the water. Practical courses are a way of getting hands on experience with a qualified instructor on a boat that has been approved and checked to be safe and suitable to teach on.  All RYA instructors are regularly assessed to maintain the high standards of the RYA courses they run.

Practical courses are run over a weekend or 5 days, enabling sailors to put new skills into practice while experiencing living on a boat and visiting different marinas for a well deserved drink at the end of the day.

Practical RYA courses include
RYA Start Yachting
RYA Competent Crew
RYA Day Skipper
RYA Coastal Skipper
